Journal Reference List Guidelines

A journal reference list is an essential part of a scholarly work, listing the journal sources used as references. Here are the guidelines for correctly compiling a journal reference list:

1. General Format

- The journal reference list is arranged in alphabetical order based on the last name of the first author of each source.
- If a source has more than one author, the names are listed in the order of their contribution to the work.
- If a source has no listed author, the title of the source is placed in the author's position.
- Each entry in the reference list begins with the author(s) name, followed by the year of publication, article title, journal title, volume (if applicable), issue number (if applicable), and page numbers.

2. Format Example

Here is a commonly used format for listing journal sources in the reference list:

Example:

3. Citing Sources in Text

- When referring to a source in the text, include the author(s) name and the year of publication.
- If a source has two authors, both names are mentioned every time the source is cited.
- If a source has three or more authors, only the first author's name is mentioned, followed by "et al."

- "According to Smith and Johnson (2020), technology has a significant impact on education."
- "Recent studies show that the use of technology has improved learning outcomes (Smith et al., 2020)."

4. Consistency and Compliance with Writing Style

- Ensure consistent use of writing style throughout the reference list, in accordance with the prescribed writing style rules (such as APA, MLA, Chicago, Harvard, etc.).
- Double-check each entry to ensure all necessary details are correctly and completely included.

5. Special Attention

- Make sure to list all journals used as references in your work.
- Avoid including sources not directly cited in the text.

6. Recommendations

- Consider using applications like Mendeley, Zotero, and others.
